Colin Cowie was born in Kitwe, Zambia, and educated in South Africa and has lived in the United States since 1985. Colin Cowie Lifestyle was initially established in Los Angeles as an event planning, interior design, and lifestyle company. With offices currently in Los Angeles and Manhattan, Colin Cowie Lifestyle is regarded as the premier event design and production company in the world.

Colin Cowie Lifestyle has produced weddings, parties and charity events throughout the United States and Europe. Celebrity weddings include those of Jerry Seinfeld, Jenny McCarthy, Sela Ward, Don Henley, Kelsey Grammer, Kenny G., Lisa Kudrow, Charlie Sheen, Sugar Ray Leonard, Paula Abdul, Barry Bonds, and Hugh Hefner. Renowned parties include Oprah Winfrey's 50th birthday celebration, John Travolta's 50th birthday celebration, Quincy Jones' 71st birthday celebration, the grand opening celebrations of the Atlantis Royal Towers (Paradise Island, Bahamas), the One and Only Ocean Club (Paradise Island, Bahamas), and the One and Only Palmilla (Los Cabos, Mexico).
